The Homicidal Colony Mandate:

The Blood Law. It is a guaranteed death sentence to buy only 4 or 5 Tropheus. The Alpha male is so violently aggressive that he will systematically hunt down, ram, and murder every single other Tropheus in the tank. The STRICT, UNBREAKABLE RULE of Tropheus keeping is that you MUST buy a massive colony of 15 to 25 juveniles all at once, from the exact same batch, and let them grow up together. This insane overcrowding completely shuts down the Alpha's ability to focus on a single victim. NEVER add a new, strange Tropheus to an established tank; the entire swarm will instantly gang up and rip the newcomer to shreds in minutes.

Water Flow and Liquid Rock:

The 'Surge Zone' Extreme. In the wild, they live in the crashing, violent surf waves crashing against the rocky shores of Lake Tanganyika. You MUST install massive wavemakers and high-flow powerheads to create violent, hyper-oxygenated water currents. The water must be incredibly hard 'Liquid Rock' with a staggering pH of 8.6 to 9.2.

The Bloat Wipeout (Dietary Fatality):

The Protein Trap. Tropheus are strictly obligate herbivores with incredibly long, fragile digestive tracts. If you feed them even ONE tiny pinch of high-protein meaty food (like bloodworms or standard fish flakes), the meat will rot and ferment inside their stomachs. This causes 'Tropheus Bloat', a highly contagious, incurable swelling disease that can wipe out a $500 colony in 48 hours. They must eat pure 100% Spirulina flakes.
