Striped Poison-Fang Blenny

Meiacanthus grammistes

The Rattlesnake Blenny (4.5 inches / 11 cm). Looks cute, but has two massive hollow fangs in its lower jaw filled with potent venom.

Care and observations

The Predator's Regret: They swim out in the open fearlessly because predators know better. If a larger fish tries to eat them, they bite the inside of the predator's mouth and inject venom. The predator violently spits them out. Do not hand-feed them, a bite feels like a hornet sting.
